 Malabar Meen Curry (Malabar Fish Curry) 
Ingredients
  • 12 Sardines
  • 2 cups Grated coconut
  • 7 Onions
  • 1 teaspoon Cocum
  • 5 Garlic cloves
  • 4 Green chillies
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 Tomato
  • 2 teaspoons Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/4 cup Coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons Curry leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 teaspoons Chopped mint leaves
  • Salt (As per taste)
Method
Soak the cocum in 1/2 cup of water for 10 minutes. Grind the coconut, cocum, sliced onion, garlic, green chillies, ginger, tomato and the coriander leaves to a fine paste.

Heat half the quantity of oil in a pan and saute the curry leaves, mustard seeds and the ground paste for a minute. Add fish, salt and 2 cups of water. Bring the contents to boil and cook on slow fire till the fish is tender and the contents are dry. Pour over the curry, the remaining quantity of coconut oil, mix well and remove it from the fire. Transfer the contents to a serving dish.

Garnish the dish with chopped mint leaves.

Serve hot with rice.
