 Ghuguni (Dried Peas Curry) 
Ingredients
  • 2 large Potatoes
  • 11/2 cups Dried yellow peas
  • 3 small Tomatoes
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 2 Cardamoms (green)
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 small sticks Cinnamon
  • 3 Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 4 Green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 3 tablespoons Oil
  • Salt (As per taste)
Method
Boil and cube the potatoes. Soak the peas in water for 6 hours and boil. Grind the onion, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves to a fine paste with water.
Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a frying pan, add cumin seeds and fry till they start spluttering. Add green chillies and ground paste, fry for 2 minutes. Add all the masala powders, salt and chopped tomatoes. Saute till the tomatoes are tender. Add the boiled peas, potatoes and little water. Cover and simmer for 7 minutes.

Serve hot with rotis.
