Vattana Usal (Dried Peas Curry)
Ingredients
  • 5 cups Dried yellow peas
  • 3 Green chillies
  • 1 cup Grated coconut
  • 1 cup Coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • Salt (As per taste)
Method
Soak the peas overnight.

Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan, add the cumin seeds and fry till they crackle. Add the green chillies and soaked pead.
Add salt, sugar and water to get desired consistency.

Cover and cook on a low flame till the gravy is slightly thick.

Garnish with chopped coriander and coconut. Serve hot with bread or rice.

Serves : 10 Time : 60 mins.
