Method
Soak the dal and the red chillies in water for an hour and grind to a smooth paste, adding salt and asafoetida powder. Chop the french beans and boil with little water till tender.
Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, bengal gram dal, black gram dal, 1 red chilli, cumin seeds and curry leaves. When the seeds start spluttering, add the toovar dal paste and fry on a low heat stirring once in a while, till the mixture is well cooked and resembles bread crumbs. Add the cooked beans and fry for a couple of minutes till everything blends.
Serve hot with chapattis.
