About the Temple

The Wish-Fulfilling Goddess

Chintpurni, meaning 'one who relieves worries,' is one of the most revered Shakti Peethas in India. According to legend, the feet of Goddess Sati fell here when Lord Vishnu dismembered her body with his Sudarshan Chakra.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chinnamastika, the headless form of Shakti who represents the ultimate sacrifice. Unlike other temples, there is no idol here — devotees worship a sacred Pindi (stone) representing the Goddess.

The temple attracts millions of devotees annually, especially during Navratri when the footfall can reach several lakhs per day. The belief that the Goddess fulfills all sincere wishes makes it a powerful pilgrimage destination.
