The Kashmir of South India
Munnar, nestled in the Western Ghats at 1,532 meters, is a dreamy hill station where endless tea plantations paint the landscape in shades of green. The name comes from "Moonu Aar" (three rivers) - where the Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala rivers converge.
Once the summer resort of British colonial rulers, Munnar retains its old-world charm while offering modern comforts. The cool, misty climate makes it a perfect escape from tropical heat, especially during the scorching summer months.
Beyond tea gardens, Munnar is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, exotic flora including the rare Neelakurinji flower (which blooms once in 12 years), spectacular waterfalls, and some of the best trekking trails in South India.
