The Legend of Vasant Panchami
According to Hindu mythology, after creating the world, Lord Brahma felt something was missing. The world seemed dull and silent. He sprinkled water from his kamandalu, and from the lotus emerged Goddess Saraswati, playing the veena and filling the universe with knowledge and music.
Vasant Panchami falls on the fifth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Magha, marking the arrival of spring. The mustard fields turn golden yellow, and nature comes alive with new energy.
This day is also associated with Kamadeva, the god of love, and marks the beginning of preparations for Holi, which falls 40 days later. It's considered one of the most auspicious days for starting any educational endeavor.
